Mention the phrase 'Theatre In Education' and many teachers shudder at the thought of actors turning up to their school with tatty costumes, cheaply made sets and a couldn't care less attitude. We have spoken to teachers where this has been their first and sadly their last experience of T.I.E companies. At Black Cat Theatre Company many of the actors we employ have experienced the other side of the coin where companies see T.I.E as a lower form of theatre and therefore feel they need to put in minimum effort, however these companies still expect maximum rewards.

At Black Cat we only employ actors who share our enthusiasm and drive to produce top quality theatre. We commission our costumes from expert theatrical costumiers, our sets; based on authentic designs are designed to be erected and dismantled with the minimum of disruption to the school timetable.

GUIDELINES
The company adheres to the guidelines set out by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority and through co-operation with the Q.C.A. ensure that all productions productions contain the relevant material needed for proper study.
  FUN, FUN, FUN
For most young people our visit to their school will be their first experience of live theatre and we feel that this should be a positive experience, with this in mind we always ensure that our productions are both informative and enjoyable and regardless of age fun, fun, fun.

SAFETY
The safety of children is an issue we take very seriously at Black Cat, all of our productions are covered by our theatrical insurance and public and employers liabilty insurance policies. At all times our actors carry documented proof which can be seen upon request. Also where required all our stage sets, props and costumes are fire proofed. Before our actors embark on their schools visits as an extra security measure we post on this web site their photographs along with their names and the areas they are visiting.

BEWARE NOT ALL THEATRE COMPANIES TAKE THIS SIDE OF THE BUSINESS SO SERIOUSLY.
